Kuala Lumpur

Kuala Lumpur – A photo essay

Kuala Lumpur literally translates as “muddy estuary” which is a far cry from 21st Century Kuala Lumpur. We spent 10 days in KL and if I’m honest it wasn’t my favourite destination. Don’t get me wrong there are lots of positive things about Kuala Lumpur but I think 10 days split over two visits was too long.

As travellers we like to walk around new destinations and KL’s lack of side walks and very busy roads makes this difficult. Also the weather was terrible when we visited so we spent a lot of time indoors and I think we got a bit “stir crazy”.

Despite this there were things we liked about KL. We found the malls mesmerising and the grandeur of the architecture was breathtaking, not to mention the world famous petronas towers! Our favourite day in Kuala Lumpur was spent at the Bird Park, an attraction I’d recommend to any nature lover. The park is spread over 20.9 acres and sees over 200,000 visitors a year!

Although I think 10 days is too long to spend in KL, I do think travellers should pass through and maybe spend 3-4 days seeing the sights. Go for the Bird Park if nothing else!

The aim of this photo essay is to sum up our time in Kuala Lumpur and show you some of our highlights. *Spoiler Alert – I’ve included too many bird pictures*

Much love,

Lisa

Berjaya time square again. In KL it’s not enough to have a theme park in your mall, a piano stair case is a must. A great example of KL’s exuberance.
